Quick 7!!!!!!!!!

--1--

6 days to go.

Yesterday I had a check up and baby has moved down. I have been having back ache and contractions so my Ob said probably this week. This morning I got up and felt a little bit off so decided I needed to eat some breakfast. I ate a couple of pieces of toast and promptly brought them up. Nausea has been coming and going all day and I have been having contractions but they still are not regular.

--2--

Nappies.

Katie from Humamae Vitae asked me about my aio nappies.

I have made up a couple of different patterns. The first one I used was The Ottobre aio. I didn't really like this nappy pattern. It looks way too big and was a bit too bulky imo with all the layers for the internal soaker.

I then went and searched for another one and came across the Celtic Cross medium nappy and found the pattern much easier to sew. They also had a fairly bulky soaker but I decided to make my soaker smaller. The first nappy I made was too big for a new born so I have down sized the pattern. This one was much easier to down size than the Ottobre one.

--3--

Brigette.

Yesterday I showed Brigette how to update my blog, plurk page and how to post at dcf message board. She is going to let everyone know when the baby is born.

--4--

1st week of school.

School started on Wednesday. The week has been good except for today since I was feeling so off.

We are using Faith and Life for our RE lessons. I love the program. Tom, Amelia and Christopher really like it too.

Both Tom and Amelia asked if we could do Latin so I got out our program that I bought a couple of years ago and we will go through it each afternoon.

Christopher is joining in the morning sessions of our home school. Each morning we have Prayer, Reading, Recite times tables and Faith and Life. We then also do an extra subject that is more hands on for the children or that I can have activities at Christophers level. At this stage I have History of the World, Geography, sewing, cooking and art. In the afternoon while Christopher is at kindy, Tom and Amelia are doing their Maths, Literacy, spelling and reading.

--5--

Musical Theatre.

Last night I took Madeline, Brigette, Tom and Amelia across to the high school to enrol in Musical Theatre. We got them all into a class. We have classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Friday night Brigette wants to do Cadets and Tom, Amelia and Christopher go to Kids club. The only night I don't have something on is Tuesday night. This is just as well since Tuesday night is Steve's staff meeting.

--6--

Weekend Plans.

I am hoping to keep busy. It makes waiting for baby go quicker. This weekend I plan to finish of the aio nappies, make some eggplant parmigania and maybe some labour cookies too. We will go to mass on Saturday night and I will prepare Tom, Amelia and Christopher's programe for next week.

--7--

Lent.

Lent is only two and a half weeks away. I have been thinking about what I want to give up this year. I am giving serious thought to giving up the internet but not really sure if it is what God is calling me too.

Every year, I try and do some extra spiritual reading and spend more time in prayer. I also try to spend more time with the children.

In keeping with my word for the year "Now" I also want to spend more time doing the unpleasent things that I avoid or put off till "tomorrow".

I would love to hear what you are thinking of doing for lent.

A word for the year.

Reading around the blogsphere, there have been a lot of blogs coming up with a word to live by for the year. I have thought about it for a while and the word I keep coming back to is now.

One of my worst characteristics is procrastination. Especially with chores and anything I dislike.

I really want to work on changing this bad habit this year. I am working on saying now instead of later with what needs to be done.

Do you have a word for the year that you are trying to live by?

Happy Anniversary Steve.

Today Steve and I celebrate 19 years of marriage. I am so grateful to God for the gift that Steve is to me and for the sacrament of marriage.

We have had many ups and downs in our marriage. God has always been faithful though and helped us through the difficult times.

I was going to cook some Eggplant Parmigiana for Steve and I for tea and see if labour would start. I don't feel ready though to have the baby just yet so we will go out to our local Chinese restaurant for tea instead.

Maybe over the weekend I will make the Eggplant and also try some labour cookies. Brigette wanted to make the labour cookies yesterday but I said wait till the weekend.

5mart Martha (and Mary) Monday.

Here is my list from last week.

We got to weekday mass on Monday and Tuesday but our pp was away for the rest of the week so there was no mass. I prayed the LOH but didn't get to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament since our PP was away and the church was locked.

I actually changed what I needed to sew. I have put a higher priority on things for the baby so I did one sleeping bag and the sling. I also did my first aio nappy. It looks huge so I have actually scaled down the pattern and will make a few more this week.

This week:

Mary:

Steve and I will start a novena tonight for the safe delivery of our baby.

Pray every morning when home school starts.

Go to weekday mass.

Martha:

Sew some more nappies.

Cut out my skirt and top for babies baptism.

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Here is some of my sewing.

I have been keeping busy with my sewing. Today I made this sling for the baby. Unfortunately, I bought the wrong size rings and this fabric is too thick to fit through nicely. I can get it through but it is very stiff and hard to adjust. The pattern I have used is Elizabeth Lee Nursing classics 202. It is rated easy but I found it very fiddly with the wadding in the side and the pillow of wadding in the top. I also have a thinner cotton muslin fabric (below) that I think will fit into these rings okay. I am going to make this one into a sling tomorrow and hopefully put the rings on it and then buy some bigger ones for the above sling.

Besides these I have prepared my pattern for a skirt and top for the babies baptism. Here is the skirt and top pattern with the fabric I will use for those.

I am hoping to pin and cut these tomorrow and have them done before the baby is born.

38 weeks.

I have just got home from my anti natal visit. Baby is still up quite high so it is pretty unlikely that I will go early.

GBS is negative so I am really happy about that. I won't have to rush in to get antibiotics during labour.

School starts next Wednesday so my plans for the rest of the week is to spend a bit of time going through the programs I have and the rest of the time sewing.

My mil is coming to stay for the next 4 nights so she will be able to help me a bit with the sewing I plan to do.

15 days to go: Trying to keep busy.

In the count down to my due date, we have 15 days to go today. I really hope he doesn't go over or if he does, it isn't too long.

Yesterday after Mass, Steve drove us over to Whyalla for some shopping. My favourite shop in Whyalla is Spotlight. Toyworld is attached to Spotlight in Whyalla so the children love coming there with me too lol.

Tom had some birthday money to spend and Brigette had some Christmas money so they both went straight into Toyworld as soon as we got there.

The girls, Tom and Christopher all choose some fabric for some different things and I got some for myself and the baby too. My plan for the next few days is to sit at the sewing machine and get the children doing all the housework. I will say to them, you want some new clothes, you need to do xyz.

Temps are going to be in the high 30's/low 40's for the rest of the week so sitting under the airconditioner sewing sounds like the best way to spend it.

5mart Martha (and Mary) Monday.

I did everything on my list last week.

I think some weeks, I have an unrealistic expectation of myself and what I can achieve.

Here are some pictures of the storeroom. I took the photo the day after finishing it and already, someone had messed up the home school books. I have them back in order now.

We have the hammock and babies car seat in there at the moment but that is just to keep them out of my hair while I am doing sewing. Once baby comes, I don't think I will be sewing as much.

So this week I am going to keep it simple again.

My Mary's are:

Pray the LOH.

Go to weekday mass

Spend one hour in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

My Martha's are:

Sew some sleeping bags for the baby and sew some shorts for Brigette.

What are your goals?

blast from the past.

Our children at Christmas, 2003 with Steve's grandparents. When baby is born, a friend is coming to take a picture of all of them together. I will post this one with it. It will be interesting to see how the children have all changed.

New Template.

I have wanted a change for the look here since getting rid of the triple template. I really love the triple column template but don't want a slow loading blog. I think that was the cause of the slow load while I had it.

I am going to try a couple of different looks over the next few weeks.

Since I can't have the triple column, I am looking for something with the sidebar on the left side but I want the posts to be wider. I am thinking a third for the sidebar and two thirds for the posts.

All the templates with blogger seem to be smaller in the posting area though.

If you have any tips or ideas for making the template look better, leave a comment.

If it is slow to load, please also let me know.

Quick 7!!

--1--

School Holidays coming to an end.

Next week on Wednesday, Steve will be going back to work. We will start school on the following Wednesday.

When Steve goes back, I will have to get serious and start planning Tom, Amelia's and Christopher's time table for first term. I am in two minds about when Christopher should be at kindy.

The morning session would suit us much more but because his injections are first thing in the morning, he is more likely to have a hypo in this session than latter in the day. Also once baby comes, it will change things again. I will have to have a good think about this.

--2--

Madeline and Brigette.

Are back from Adelaide. I put them on the bus on Tuesday morning and they got back at lunch time today. It was very quiet here and I am glad they are home now.

--3--

Monday.

Last Monday evening was very hot and humid. Usually, the heat doesn't worry me too much but the humidity is just so oppressive. I considered for about 3 minutes jumping on our trampoline and seeing if that would send me into labour but decided that it wasn't a good idea.

The temps have been great for the rest of the week and we will have high 20's and low 30's right up until next Wednesday. I probably won't consider going on the trampoline until next Wednesday at least lol.

--4--
Baby Swing.

Christopher sat on our baby swing earlier this week and broke it. We had loaned it to some friends that were able to get a part that one of their children broke so I know we can get a part or Steve even thinks that he may be able to fix the part. I hope it hasn't been wrecked though.

--5--

New Meters.

Tom and Christopher have some new meters. I was having a heap of problems with the strips that were going in their Go meter. Both meters were doing exactly the same thing and when I rang Diabetes SA, I was told that they had had a lot of people ringing about this particular meter. I wondered if the heat had affected the strips.

We decided to get the Accu Check Integra meter.

It doesn't have as many features as the Go did but the strips are enclosed and I am hoping that will stop the problems we have had.

--6--

Sewing for baby.

I have a few plans to do a bit of sewing over the next three weeks. I will be making the aio nappies, some slings and some sleeping bags. Hopefully this will keep me occupied and patient for the baby to come.

--7--

Wedding Anniversary.

In two weeks Steve and I will celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. I am going to make the eggplant Parmigiana. I wonder if it will send me into labour..

Pictures from Tom's birthday.

Tom turns ten.

Happy Birthday Tom.

10 years ago after the whole night in labour, Tom was born at 10.30am.

I remember the children coming in to meet him for the first time. Sam (aged 5) walked in and said THE BOYS ARE WINNING because we now had 3 boys and 2 girls.

We have a couple of other families coming for lunch today and will have a bbq. .

Photos will be posted tonight.

5mart Martha (and Mary) Monday.

Last week I did all the Martha's but neglected many of my Mary's again. The only Mary I did was go to Mass.

This week, I am going to make it simple.

I need to get to confession so that and weekday mass are going to be the two that I try for Mary.

My Martha's are:

Clean out the storeroom and get Tom, Amelia and Christopher's curriculum organised for this year.

Do you have any goals for the week?

Let me know and I will add a link to your post.

Mrs. B from Too many Bakers has her list up.

Quick 7!!

--1--

Party Day.

We have a big big day in our house. Tonight is Daniel's 18th birthday party. Most things are prepared but we still have a few to do. This will be our first big party with a lot of guests. I hope it all goes well.

--2--

Heat Wave.

Today is heading to 42 (106).
Tomorrow the same.
Monday is only going to be 41 (105)
Tuesday will be much cooler at 31 (87) so I am looking forward to Tuesday.

--3--

New Car.

Daniel has bought his first car. I was going to take a photo and put it here but he has gone out for the day.

When he comes home, I will take a picture and upload it.

--4--

Baby.

Our baby is a night baby. As soon as I get into bed at night, he starts moving and jumping around. He moves a little bit during the day but is noticeably more active at night.

I also had a bit of a God incidence about the due date. I think I know what date baby will come just from a couple of things that some people have said to me and a dream I had. I won't write here what date I think it is since I have asked people to guess but if it happens on that date, I will let you know about this God incidence. If you are very curious and cannot wait to find out, email me and I will tell you what has happened and what was said.

--5--

Quiet Week.

Next week Madeline and Brigette are going to Adelaide to stay with my girlfriend for three nights. I will put them on the bus here Tuesday morning and She will pick them up. On Friday morning, they will head home on the bus. It will be really quiet here for the week without them.

--6--

Madeline.

Started working last week at Hungry Jacks. Here is a picture of her in her uniform.

5mart Martha (and Mary) Monday.

Being on holidays is not good for routine. I forget each day.

Last night I got into bed and said to Steve oh, it is Monday today isn't it. I forgot to do my list for 5mart Martha Monday.

I did about half of my list from last week.

I have bookmarked the LOH for Steve and I to do together but we haven't prayed them yet.

I also didn't start another novena.

Amelia's dress is made (pictured above).

The bamboo fleece is washed and I rested each afternoon.

This week list:

Mary:

Go go Weekday Mass.

Pray LOH with Steve.

Start Novena.

Prayer Journal.

Martha's:

Only two this week.

Cook some meals for the freezer.

Prepare for Daniel's 18th birthday party this weekend.

Baby Hammock and swing.

Photos of Steve putting our hammock together and our rocking music chair.

The box next to the rocking chair has all the baby clothes, baby wraps and blankets that we have been given. Brigette especially loves going through the clothes. She has already picked out an outfit for the baby to wear home.

One month to go.

Today we set up the baby hammock and I bought a new car seat. I was going to post some photos of everything that we have but it is getting late and I need to have some sleep. I will upload everything tomorrow morning.

While I am talking about baby, I thought I would have a little competition.

Guess the date and time that our baby will be born and his weight. It is due exactly a month from today.

With our other babies, Daniel and Christopher were both 10 days late, Sam was 4 weeks early and the others were all born within a couple of days of their due date.

As a bonus, put in a name suggestion for our little boy. Steve and I still haven't agreed on a name and Steve isn't too keen on the top 4 that we chose.

Happy Birthday Daniel.

18 years ago today, I gave birth to our first child, Daniel.

This year Daniel will be going out into the workforce and attending university studying Mechanical Engineering.

Steve and I are both very proud to call him our son. He is a great leader (perfect for the first born), hard worker and loyal.

Happy Birthday Daniel.
