Friday Flashback.

Friday Flashback

I have been wanting to do a flashback post with Therese from Musings of a Mom for a while but haven't ever got around to it.

My Friday flash back is to July 2007. Christopher (at age 2 years, 5 months) had his first hair cut.

You can see the before pictures here.

You can see the after pictures here.

Pop over to Therese's blog to see what other people are flashing back too.

bad things, good things.

The bad:

Last week our car was in an accident. A driver behind me ran into me when I stopped at an intersection.

The good:

We have all the details of the other driver and he has taken responsibility for the accident.

We have been into the crash repairers and they think the damage is pretty superficial.

No one was hurt.

The bad:

Christopher is getting very high blood sugars.

The good:

We had a good 15 months of him being in the honeymoon phase and he didn't get DKA.

The endocrinologist from WCH has been a great support and help.

Christopher is on the waiting list to start pumping.

The Bad;

This week Joseph has been very unsettled and we have had a lot of little extra things to do that has made our time table hard to follow.

The good:

I have sat down this morning and put more details into our time table. I printed it out so when we have a lot of extra things to do and get off track, I can just look at the timetable and get back on track.

The good:

I now have 150 followers. Nothing bad about this. Thanks so much to all my followers. I am so happy to have made so many friends online.

Honeymoon coming to an end.

It is just about 14 months since we discovered that Christopher has type one diabetes. Since finding out he has been on insulin daily and his sugars have been pretty easy to manage. This past week, he has had very high sugars in spite of the insulin injections. I think his honeymoon phase is coming to an end.

Please pray for Christopher. He has been very unhappy over the last week or so. I am sure he feels revolting with the high sugars and doesn't really understand why this is happening.

He broke my heart when he asked me why he got diabetes. I really didn't know what to say to him. Tom gave him a hug and said I can help you and you can help me. I was very proud of Tom.

Tom and Amelia. Week one links.

Go here for Tom's post.

Go here for Amelia's post.

Early morning.

It is 6.30 on Wednesday morning. I finally have a bit of time to do a post. Over this week, I have had plenty of ideas for posts but when I get on computer, I go to facebook or plurk or read other blogs so have run out of time to post here.

We have had a great start to the 3rd term. I won't tell you to much about what we are doing because Tom and Amelia will be writing on their blog about it. Amelia wants to start her own blog too so I am going to encourage writing each week for both of them. At this stage they will be updating each Wednesday. I will probably post a link here to their blogs when they have updated them.

Joseph is getting around all over the place now. He is much better than he was on the weekend but still has a runny nose and is finding it hard to breathe when feeding.

Here is a picture of Steve painting the family room. We thought it would be far enough along to start homeschooling in this term but we still have lay the lino and get things a bit more oragnised in there for this to happen. I think once the lino is laid, we can put all our boxes and tables in there so hopefully we will be working in there within the next couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to having this room done. I think it will make the lounge room much easier to keep tidy.

The end of the holidays

Today is the last day of school holidays. I have spent a lot of time this week getting our program for this term ready.

Joseph has been unwell this weekend and hasn't been sleeping all that well. On Friday night I was up a lot with him. Because I didn't get much sleep, we actually decided to cancel our trip to my nieces baptism. I didn't want to take Joseph on a long trip when he isn't feeling well so we are home today keeping warm by the fire.

Steve has finished painting the family room and we will start doing home school in there this week. In a couple of weeks the lino will be laid and then we will think about where to put our cupboards.

I will take some photos later to show the great job Steve has done.

Do Re Mi.

I would love to be in a public spot when something like this happened.

A year ago at Aussie Coffee Shop.

We have had a busy day today. Tom woke up sick and has had sugars swinging all over the place.

I actually wasn't going to post anything but have to do another bsl for Tom in 15 minutes so decided to post.

I sat looking at the blogger post page and after finding it hard to post something decided to go back and see what we posted a year ago on this day.

On the 11th of July 2009, I wrote about Trixie Belden and how much I enjoyed reading the series. It was from reading Trixie Belden that my love for reading was born.

Back then, I was just starting to read the series to Tom and Amelia.

We are now 3/4 the way through book 5. I read a bit every day to them during term. It is a series they have both enjoyed and I am sure they will look back fondly at the series and reading it all together.

Time to check Tom so I will finish off now.

Couldn't miss out on the action. Since I asked people to visit Tom's blog, She asked me to link to her new blog.

Brigette's blog is called Blah Blah Blah.

Go and see what she is up too.

Quick 7!!!

--1--
Holidays!

The first week of our school holidays is gone. It went so fast. Steve is getting the family room done but I am sick of the dust. He has been plastering the walls and then has to sand them back. We have white dust from one end of the house to the other. If anyone walks into the family room, you can follow their trail from the family room to any area of the house.

Tom got in on the action and started rubbing the door frames for Steve. Here is a video of him doing it.

Cooking.

Today I started doing a big cook for our main meals this month. Amelia wanted to help and she was a big help in the kitchen.

We made chicken stock, potato and leek soup and pasties.

Here is a picture of Amelia cutting up the potatoes for the soup.

--3--
Daniel.

Daniel is home for the weekend. His girlfriend Abbey is here too. Tomorrow Abbey's parents and her brother are coming over for lunch. I am looking forward to meeting them all.

--4--

YCS!!

This week Madeline and Brigette are going on a YCS camp. They will be gone on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

It will be very quiet here without them.

--5--
Gastro.

Earlier in the week, I wasn't able to post what I wanted since I was feeling pretty revolting after being sick.

I am completely over the bug now and grateful for everyone that prayed for me.

--6--
Joseph.

Joseph is moving all over the lounge room now. I put him down on a blanket on the lounge room floor and he gets off it pretty quickly.

He has a pretty rotten cough at the moment and it is making him miserable. Hopefully he will be over it soon.

--7--
Toy Story 3.

Yesterday Steve and I took Tom, Amelia, Christopher and Joseph to Toy Story 3. Joseph liked being in the cinema until they turned down the lights. Then he didn't want any part of it.

He and I spent the first half of the movie out in the foyer. He wanted to look around. I was trying to rock him off to sleep. He was pretty stubborn about going to sleep but I managed to rock him off and see the last half of the movie. I would like to see the whole movie. Maybe we will buy the DVD when it comes out. Steve thinks if is the best Toy Story made.

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

I had a couple of posts in mind.

To post tonight but I have picked up a gastro bug.

I have spent most of the afternoon in bed trying to get rid of this. Prayers for a fast recovery would be very much appreciated.

Our weekend.

We started our day today with mass. It was such a sunny day we decided it would be a good day to go for a walk.

We decided to walk to McDonalds for lunch. The children had a good play on the playground after eating and Steve and I talked.

When we came home, Joseph was trying to get up on his hands and knees so I took this video of him.

video

Our end room is going really well. Steve has put in the frame work to block the door way from the bathroom (which is becoming our laundry). Tomorrow he wants to pull the window and bricks out to make the door way into the laundry from outside and get the gyprock on the frame work to change the doorway into a wall.

This photo shows looking back from the family room towards the kitchen. The gyprock is off the wall so that Steve could get the door frame out.

This is the gyprock going back on the wall after the doorframe had been pulled out.

gyprock on the wall

This is where the basin was in the bathroom. This shows the basin pulled out and the bricks that Steve will remove to make the door way into the laundry.
Tom got in with the action too and helped by pulling nails out of bits of wood. Steve does this so that we don't have any nails through feet while walking around.

Quick 7!!! The holiday edition.

--1--

School Holidays.

Today was the last day of term two. We have two weeks holidays and I am really looking forward to them.

I want to do my winter sewing.

Steve wants to get as much done to our family room/home school room.

We will go to our nieces baptism.

Tom wants to
play computer games, have a family picnic and have some friends over.Link

It would also be good to have a girls day out at some stage.

What do you plan to do in your holidays?

--2--

The rescuing hug!!

Gae linked from facebook to this link about a set of premature twins. It is a great story of just how healing a hug can be.

--3--

Winter really is here.

The weather forecast for this week in Port Augusta is very cold. The whole week we will have lows of 2 degrees Celsius and our high will be 16 Celsius. For those in America, 2 degrees is 35 and 16 is 60.

--4--

Joseph.

This Wednesday, Joseph will be 5 months old. He is showing a great interest in anything and everything we eat. I haven't started any solids yet but I think I will puree some vegetables and freeze them this weekend for him to try.

--5--

Family room.

This afternoon, Steve started pulling out the wall that goes between an alcove and old kitchen. We are hoping that our family room/home school room will be mostly done by the end of the holidays.

This post shows the rooms
before we had decided what to do.

I want to put some storage cupboards along the far wall with the window in it.

These are the type of storage cupboards we are considering.

--6--

Jolly Jumper.

Joseph has finally worked out how to really jump in the jolly jumper.

Here is a picture of him in action.

--7--

I cannot think of a number 7 and really need to go to bed.

Don't forget to visit Jen and read other peoples quick takes.

Have a great weekend.

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes
Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Click on the photo of Tom and Christopher to read about why I am against using Embryonic Stem cells for a cure.
