A simple Womens Daybook.

Outside my window... the day has just started. It is still dark.
I am thinking... about today and what needs to be done before we go to Port Pirie.
From the learning rooms... we will be learning about the different oils blessed at the Chrism mass.
I am thankful for... a good nights sleep last night.
From the kitchen...I am preparing for a big cook this weekend.
I am wearing... my nightie still.
I am reading... The Screwtape letters.
I am hoping... the children all enjoy the trip to Port Pirie today.
I am creating... Tom's shirt and a clutter free kitchen.
I am hearing... Steve has put on the Drew Mariani Show.
Around the house... the children are all sleeping still, there is lots of washing to fold and put away.
One of my favorite things... a quiet morning.

5mart Martha Monday.
I really didn't do that well this week. Here are my 5 from last week
In the past, I have prayed in the mornings before I get on computer and check my blog/emails. This week, I only did that once. It only took one morning of me sleeping in later than usual to not pray. It was a big mistake. I didn't pray any mornings until Thursday and that was the only day I did it all week. I need to make it a priority this week.
So out of the 5 things, We did start Tom's First Communion prep, I sewed Madeline's dress and we had our trip to Whyalla. I think we only did the stations twice all week. I was only in bed by 10 on Monday night. I didn't get any kitchen cupboards cleaned out and the only day I did 5 decades of the rosary was on Thursday.
So this week I want to:
Sewing: Cut out a shirt for Tom.
Housework and home school: We will go to the Chrism Mass tomorrow and I will teach the children during the week about the oils that each parish takes home from the mass.
Health: I have joined Spark People First week they set the goal of 90 minutes exercise a week. I am also counting calories and keeping it between 1200 and 1500.
Family: This week is the last week that the pool is open so I think we will go for a swim and take tea there one night.
Spiritual: This morning I was reading Mary Vitamin and this stood out for me:

I am going to make an effort to sit in silence before the children get up each morning. I think I will start small with 10 minutes and work my way to 30 minutes eventually. I really am not very good at silence.

Birthday Tomorrow!
Tomorrow Madeline turns 14. She is our first daughter. It was really exciting to have a girl after two boys. Although I often thought once I got her home that girls weren't all that different to boys when they are babies. They are all just as cute and cuddly. Now at 14 she certainly is different from our boys. Happy Birthday for tomorrow Madeline. We hope we celebrate many more birthdays for you. You are a true blessing to our family.

A Shopping Trip!
Today I took the girls on a trip to Whyalla for some retail therapy. This was what Madeline wanted to do for her birthday. The girls all bought 4 new outfits each. We got some great sale items but still ended up spending a lot of money.
Now both Brigette and Amelia are talking about having a shopping trip for their birthdays. Since they celebrate two weeks apart, we may do one trip for both of them.

Chrism Mass.
This week on Tuesday our diocese is having the Chrism Mass. I am going to take Tom, Amelia and Christopher over to Port Pirie for the day.
Last time I went to the Mass it took nearly 2 hours so I think after Mass we will have a picnic lunch in the park or have some take away.

Pump Change.
Last night I checked Tom at midnight and his sugar was 27.6 (496 for the Americans). I checked for blood ketones and sure enough they were positive. This means that no insulin is getting into his system. When this happens we need to give him an injection of insulin and then change his pump. I woke him up and changed the pump. I slept through the 3am alarm to check him so got Steve to check him at 6am when Christopher woke up. He had come down to 10.2 (180).

Weight Watchers!
I am about 10 KG heavier than I was when I got pregnant with Christopher. I really need to loose the weight because I know it makes me more lethargic. I was going to join weight watchers here but they don't have a group. I am going to look into an online group. Tonight at Mass I told my girlfriend that I was walking with more regularly that I am going to come on Monday. My aim is going to be to go for a walk most days while it isn't too cold.

Bejeweled Blitz!
This game is totally addictive. I use to log into my facebook account once or twice a week. Since I started playing bejeweled Blitz I am logging in everyday.
Out of my friends on facebook, I am coming third. One of my friends has a score of 160000. I keep on wondering how the heck you get a high score like that.

Camera USB!
Still missing. I cannot believe something can disappear like this. I decided to order another one on EBay. I got one for a good price but I have to wait for it to come from Hong Kong. The seller has on his page that it can take up to two weeks. I hope it doesn't take that long.

Wednesday.
I have a heap of photos to post but the cord to upload the photos from the camera to the computer is missing. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday my new sewing machine arrived. It is great. I have started Madeline's dress on it.
It was a nice day yesterday (not too warm so I took Tom, Amelia and Christopher to Lyons Park for a picnic. They had lots of fun running around with our dog pepper and playing on the playground.
Tom has been having some high sugars so we need to adjust his basal rate and carb ratio on his pump. This means getting up at 3am to check his sugars. It is very tiring after a couple of nights so I need an early night tonight.
So hopefully in the next couple of days I will find my usb and upload some photos of my new sewing machine, our picnic in the park, our votive candle for stations of the cross and Christopher's new shirt.

The stations of the Cross.
During lent we have been praying the stations of the Cross. Homeschooling mum 4 Christ asked me what they are so here is an explaination.
The Stations are a series of reflections that Catholics do during lent (it can be done anytime but it is probably done more through lent). There are 14 different station:
1 Jesus is condemned to death.
2 Jesus takes up his cross.
3 Jesus falls for the first time.
4 Jesus meets his Blessed Mother.
5 Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross.
6 Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.
7 Jesus falls for the second time.
8 Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
9 Jesus falls for the third time.
10 Jesus is stripped of his garments
11 Jesus is crucified
12 Jesus dies on the cross.
13 Jesus is taken off the cross
14 Jesus is laid in the tomb.
We light the fourteen candles. We start with the sign of the cross and then The opening prayer If you want to see the different prayers, each station follows on from the other on this web page.
As we pray each station we blow a candle out. When we get to the end we finish in darkness. The atmosphere from the darkness is very somber and surreal.

5mart Martha Monday.
My five from last week:
1. Sewing: Madeline has a pattern she wants made. I will cut it out and start sewing.

2. Housework and home school: We are going to make a Votive Candle Stations of the Cross and I am going to clean out another kitchen cupboard.
Votive candle is made. I will upload a photo when I have a bit more time. Plastic cups and dishes cupboard cleaned out. (this is a different cupboard to my plastic container cupboard and it wasn't nearly as daunting).
3. Health: Before Tom had his pump, I went walking twice a week with two other ladies from our church. Since Tom has been on the pump, you could count the number of times I have been with them on two hands. I really need to get back in the habit of walking with them more regularly. They now walk every Monday, Wednesday and Friday so my aim will be to walk at least twice per week.
I did go walking. On Tuesday I jambed my finger in our car door just when I was getting in to take Daniel and Brigette to school and Christopher to kindy. I decided not to drive because my finger was so sore. I told Daniel to drive himself and Brigette to school and decided to walk Christopher to kindy. That was my first walk. My second walk was a short one with Amelia on Wednesday. She enjoys walking. We only did a 20 minute walk on Wednesday because I thought I would be able to go with my girlfriends on Friday but didn't wake up in time.
4. Family: I think it is time to look at my mothers rule and change chores. There seems to be a kink in our routine that has us a bit disorganised with washing. I also want to do the stations of the cross with the children on Friday night.
We did the Stations last night. Friday night is just too crazy here. My mothers rule has been changed. I am hoping by the end of this week we will see if the change is enough or not.
5. Spiritual: I need to get back to the bible study I started. I haven't done very much of it and we are half way through lent. I really want to be a good way into it by the time lent is finished.
I didn't do any. I just cannot motivate myself when I do these things on my own. The good news is though, Karen from Karen's Catholic Journal is starting an online bible study. I am going to buy the book and join in. If there is anyone else here that wants to join in, just post a comment at Karen's blog.

Spiritual: Pray 5 decades of the rosary each day.

Health: Go to bed by 10.00 each night. Tom needs to have some changes to his basal rate so I will be getting up and testing blood sugars through the night. Usually this means a test at midnight and another one at 3.00am. I need to be in bed early so that I can still feel human the next day after testing.
Family: Pray the stations of the cross, The girls and I are going shopping on Saturday for Madeline's birthday. We will also go out for tea as a family to celebrate.
Spiritual: Pray 5 decades of the rosary each day.

Praise God.
Jennifer from My Chocolate Heart is hosting a meme for everyone to praise God for things in their life. This is a really good thing to do often because being thankful makes you see how much we are given each day.

Praise God for lent. For the opportunity to pray more and make sacrifices.
Praise God for the stimulus cheque we got this week.

There are many things people don't realize about type one diabetes. Many people think it is the same as type two and that treatment is similar. There are many differences between the two. Yesterday we got another stimulus payment from the Govt. We are going to start our new bathroom with the money.

One of the worst parts of renovating a house is trying to agree with Steve about what we should do and what we shouldn't. We both have such different ideas about what is good and what isn't. At the moment we are trying to work out what to do with our end rooms.
At the moment we have the bathroom and a walkway between the kitchen and family room. I want to knock out the bathroom walls and open up the family room to come off the kitchen.
To do this we have decided to put the bathroom in the laundry but we cannot decide where to put the new laundry. At first we were thinking at the end of the family room but we would need to pull out the floor boards, put in a suspended floor and concrete the area. It is a lot of work and a lot of money.
I think we need to sit down with our original floor plan again and work out the best layout.

This is a picture of my new sewing machine. I have always wanted a computerized one with lots of different quilting stitches. It also comes with a quilting extension table. This week I ordered it and it should be here early next week. I cannot wait.

Small Successes
My small successes for the week.
1. Today I mended Sam's work pants. I really love sewing but hate mending with a passion so this is big. I hope you appreciate it Sam.
2. I have kept Tom's bsl diary up to date all week.
3. Today I did all our paperwork and paid all our bills. I balanced all our accounts and they are both spot on.

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes
Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research.
