First Anniversary.

Last year on the 30th of November, my mother rang me and told me my father had passed away. I was really stunned. I remember I was sitting at the computer updating my blog. I cannot remember what I was writing but I remember deleting it all and telling everyone that my father had died.

A few days later I wrote about what a wonderful example he was to us. My father had a very strong faith in God and his actions spoke of this all the time. I can see now what a good influence he was in my life and in raising me to care for others and to live our Catholic faith to the full. I am ever so grateful to both my mother and my father for the values they have instilled in me.




Tonight Steve and I will be praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for my father.

In Memory.

Thanks so much everyone that has prayed for me and my family in this time.

My father has had Alzheimer's for 13 years now and he has been bed ridden for the last 4 years.

He has suffered a lot over this time and I am glad that the suffering is over for him.

Around this time last year, he got very sick and was put on palliative care. We thought he was going to die then. He turned around though and started eating again.

Because of this, I always thought that death would be a slow process for him and that we would have time to gather as a family at his bedside. God obviously had other plans though.

Next Monday we will have a Requiem Mass said for dad and then lay him to rest.

I am very grateful for my dad and the example he was in living the faith. He was always a faithful Catholic and very committed to bringing us up with Catholic values. I hope I can be the same example to our children.

Another update on my dad.

Today my dad had such a good day that he has been taken off palliative care. He is still in last stages of Alzheimer's so we know he could go any time but at this stage he is eating when food is offered and seems peaceful. I am sure it is the power of prayer that is keeping him at peace so thank you everyone that has joined in praying for him and for our family.
