Cooking lesson: Mars Bar Slice.

Today for cooking we made a mars bar slice.

The recipe I used can be found here

Here are Tom, Amelia and Christopher with the ingredients.(Yes Amelia is in her pajamas and Christopher has one of Brigette's tops on).

We put all the chocolate, butter and syrup into a saucepan and stirred it over a low heat until it all melted

and looked like this.

We melted chocolate in a double boiler but it must have gotten some water or steam in because it didn't really melt that well.

Rather than pour the chocolate over, I had to spread it on. It was a bit thick and didn't really look right.

This is the finished product. We had to let it set in the fridge and was ready when everyone else came home from school.

The verdict was:

YUM YUM YUM!!!!!!!!!

Only thing is Cathy,

I think I was a bit out working out the carbs for Tom. He was in the 300's a couple of hours after eating it.

Sure looks like it would taste JUST right. I'm practically salivating. Are your kids in school now? We have another month of vacation.

Rosemary,

We have just started our third term for the year. Our school year goes from the end of January to the beginning of December. There are 4 terms of 10 weeks each with a two week break inbetween and then our summer holidays are 6 weeks.

Hi Jillian,

I bet your daughter would enjoy making this. We didn't buy mars bars but substituted the generic brand that coles has.

Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Click on the photo of Tom and Christopher to read about why I am against using Embryonic Stem cells for a cure.
