It has been a while

because life has just been hectic. Steve has just about finished the lounge/dining room but we don't have photo's yet. I have some before photo's but I don't think they have been put on the computer. We are getting a new lounge suite for the lounge so the room looks really big at the moment (since we don't have anything in it). We will do a quick day trip to Adelaide next weekend to buy this.

On a sad note this week our craft group found out that we will not be able to meet at the place we have been. WE are having a lunch together next Monday. After this we think we will meet in each other's house. Christopher will miss the creche I think and I will miss the group. I am sure there will be many people that will be too shy to come to other peoples houses but life still goes on.

Since the main living area's are close to being finished Steve's work will slow down a bit.

Steve has had his 40th.

This weekend we will be going to Adelaide to swap over the bench top. Steve has put in the sink and dishwasher so we are using the kitchen fully now.

Having the kitchen in has been good. I don't have to run from one end of the house to the other looking for some utensil. STeve has moved onto the lounge dining room now. I will take some before and after shots of this too.

As you can see from my last post it has changed quite a bit.

Steve had his 40th birthday three days after my last post. We went all out and bought him a tandem sky dive. He was going to do his jump this weekend while we were in Adelaide but the video guy isn't available so he will wait a bit longer.

My daughter Brigette would like a puppy for Christmas but Steve doesn't really want another dog. We may have to compromise on this and get some other pet.

Kitchen nearly finished.

The kitchen is about three quarter's complete. Steve justs needs to put up the wall cabinet's and install the dishwasher. The electrician is coming on Friday to put in the oven and cooktop. We had a small mishap with the kitchen. We ordered 4 bench tops and when Ikea put our order together they put in 3 white ones and one stone colour one. We will have to go back to Adelaide to change it. Steve also made a mistake with the cover panels. We got 5 small one's and two long ones. Steve opened the long one's first and thought that he had to cut them to size. We are going to see if we can return the small ones and get two more long ones. Oh well. We bought floating floor boards for the lounge dining room today so this room will be the next project we will do.

Steve's birthday is three days away. I cannot wait to give him his present.

We had a great time with Di and Mark here. We went on Pitchi Ritchi Railway on Saturday. On Sunday we went for a walk around the arid lands. On Monday Di and I took the girls and Christopher and Alexander to Whyalla for shopping. We had lunch by the foreshore and the children played on the playground.

I have started our christmas shopping. Hopefully I won't forget anyone and won't have to do a last minute dash to the store.

The holidays are here.

The children and Steve have two weeks of school. We are getting our new kitchen in. Yesterday Steve painted the room and today the tile layer is coming to lay the tiles. Steve is going to start putting our kitchen cupboards together today too. I cannot wait to have my new kitchen.

We are having my girlfriend Di and her family stay this weekend. We will be going on Pichi Richi train ride and going to the Arid lands gardens for a walk and lunch. It will be great to have them stay with us.

Yesterday was my 40th birthday and the children bought me breakfast in bed. Steve bought chinese for tea on Saturday night and we had a nice time alone once the children had all gone to bed. Steve will celebrate his 40th in two weeks so once our kitchen is finished we are going to have a party for our birthday and a housewarming party.

Yahoo it is Friday.

Aussie Coffee Shop

Friday is my favorite day of the week. It is the end of the working week and the start of the weekend. By 3.45 the children are all home and Steve and I are sitting down with a coffee. I am really lucky that Steve has a job that gets him home so early in the afternoon and I thank God for getting Steve this job every day. This job makes it easier for our children to spend time with Steve and also gives him the time to help out with any homework that I cannot help our children with.
This weekend we are going to Adelaide for a day trip to pick up the rest of our kitchen. Yesterday I ordered our new appliences and got a great deal because we were buying 4 different items. I am really looking forward to having the kitchen finished and in. That will make the house so much more livable I hope.

The middle of the week.

Aussie Coffee Shop

I have been busy re organising our house. When we moved in to this house we had a lot of work to do. We had worked out a new floor plan and the room that is going to be our bedroom was the kitchen. Because of this we slept in the room that has become the dining room for the first couple of months but when the wall was knocked out to open up the lounge dining room we needed to move our bed into the kitchen. So we have been sleeping in the kitchen. After the flood the drawers wouldn't shut properlly so I decided to move everything from the kitchen that we were sleeping in to the other kitchen down the other end of the house. (our house use to be two and the previous owner knocked a wall out to make it one so we have two of everything) The second kitchen had all of Steve's tools so he had to move them. We also had to pack up toys in the second kitchen (this room is eventually going to be the playroom/family room.) We will be using this kitchen until Steve gets our new kitchen in (hopefully be by the middle of October.) Moving around has taken a lot of time but I am glad to have the kitchen moved out of our room. Renovations are coming along and the main family area's should be just about done by Christmas time.

My friend Di

Aussie Coffee Shop

I want to tell you all about my friend Di. I showed her my blog and ninja's blog on the weekend as we were staying with them.

She is a good friend. Every time we go to Adelaide (my home town) she puts our whole family up. That is Steve and I and our seven children. It is always great to stay with her. My girls especially like it. They get on well with Di's only daughter Nicole. Di also has two son's. They are Alexander and Matthew. Matthew and Sam get on well together and Alexander plays well with Tom and Amelia. When I went to the shops with Amelia and Alexander, they were holding hands and looked very cute together.

Steve gets on well with Di's husband Mark. They both like video games and reading. Mark got Steve hooked on Nintendo and if Steve hadn't played it at their house, I don't think he would have bought one.

And finally, of course Di and I get on well together. She is a really good friend. I know that I can rely on her and trust her. She is a very generous person and gives to others all the time.

We go camping together a lot and we will be going to Streaky Bay after Christmas this year. Looking forward to going there. The beaches are fantastic. The picture above is when we were camping at Melrose. That was a great trip.

Tell me about your friends.

Well, at least my floor is clean.

This morning I was running around doing the usual cleanup at home. When the children have gone to school the first thing I do is put washing on, take the breakfast dishes to the sink, make my bed and clean up the lounge dining room. I usually leave the dishes soaking in hot water till I do them later. I started filling up the sink and put all the dishes in then walked into the lounge/dining room and forgot all about the running water. Next thing I hear the water and think whats that? I run into the kitchen. The sink is overflowing into my drawers and onto the floor. Christopher is sitting on the ground with a huge grin on his face splashing in the water. I turned the taps of, pulled the drawers out and tried to get the plug out. The water was very hot and it took me a while. I tried to flick it up with a knife to begin with but when this didn't work I had to just put my hand in and pull it. My hand is ok thank goodness. Anyway, the water was all over the floor and now thanks to a seniors moment I have a clean floor. Thank goodness something good came from it.

Sunday night.

Today was Father's day here. We went out to Port Augusta Aerodrome since they were having an open dayand since flying is Steve's passion. He spoke with a guy that has built a kit plane. I think Steve would like to do this one day. He will need to finish our renovations on our house first though. On Thursday night he pulled out a brick wall. We had dust everywhere. We had some french doors put in on Friday and Steve has been bricking up the wall around the outside. I am very impressed at the profesional look that it has. I have put a photo in of Steve pulling out the wall between the lounge and dining area and the children getting in on the act too. They liked pulling the wall down but didn't like carrying all the heavy gyprock to the trailer. When I get some photo's of the brick wall coming down on computer, I will post them too. Happy Father's day to any Fathers that may be reading this.

fractured arm.

fractured arm

I fell last Friday down our steps and hurt my arm. I went to the doctor who decided that I had torn a tendon. He gave me some pain killers and some cream and I went home. On Monday evening my arm was really sore. I decided that driving was hurting it the most so organised for my dh to take the children to school and made an appointment to go back to the doctor after school when he could take me. I had xrays and the radial has a fracture. So I will not be driving or using my arm very much for the next three weeks. I think I will start to appreciate having a drivers licence after this.

Monday Mornings

Monday Mornings.

I go to a craft group on Monday mornings. They have a free creche for Christopher and I get to spend time with other mothers. I really like the group and it revive's me. I usually take some knitting to do but this morning I just went and sat and had a coffee. On Friday I fell outside our house and tore a tendon in my arm. It is still sore but getting better. At least I can type with both hands now. I decided to do no knitting this morning because I didn't want to hurt my arm more.

I have come to realize that things in our life either fill us up or drain us. The craft group is one thing that I know is a filler. A drainer is keeping our house in order. I know that when I don't take the time to fill myself my life becomes depressing and I start to neglect the drainers in my life. It is important to take time to fill yourself up and keep your life in ballance. What are the things that fill you up?

Differences between Americans and Australians.

Differences between Americans and Australians.

I keep on noticing differences between us. For instance, I entered my birthday into blogger as 1/10/66 and I see blogger has my zodiac sign (something I don't believe in for a minute) as Capricorn and I realize that blogger thinks my birthday is the 10 of January when it is the 1st of October.

Another difference. Americans seem to hate hate hate vegemite with a capital H. Australians have it for Breakfast lunch and tea. Why do Americans hate it so much?

They call nappies diapers and dummies pacifiers.

Anyway, they are different from me but I still really love all my American friends. What do you americans find weird about us Aussies? (except for the fact that we like vegemite)

here I am with our youngest child. He is much older now but I couldn't find any recent photo's of myself. I haven't changed much since this photo was taken anyway.
