New in the Sidebar.

Fr. Speekman sent me this picture to advertise the Catholic Priests Conference for the Year of the priest.

Here is the email Fr. John sent me:

Dear Therese,
I have been asked to advertise the Year of the Priest Clergy Conference for English-speaking priests in Rome in 2010 so I've had some graphics of varying sizes produced hoping one of them might find an appropriate place on your site. You might put a banner at the top of your blog or something in the column, it's up to you. It is important that those who read the ad are directed to the official website: Year For Priests Conference either by clicking on the graphic or on a link beneath it.
It's a big ask but I'm hoping you will do this for me and for all those priests who would benefit from a conference such as this. Many thanks.
By the way, if you want to send this email on to other bloggers .. do it! Again, I would be most grateful.
God bless,
Fr John Speekman

Please spread the word about the Priests for Life Conference.

It's my Blogaversary.

Three years ago today, I did my first post on blogger.

Here is the post I did:

Introduction.

Blogging has opened up a whole new world for me. I have made so many friends that have all become very special to me even though I haven't ever meet them irl.

Thanks so much to all my followers and friends that leave comments regularly. I am truly grateful for all your friendship. After all, blogging wouldn't be nearly as fulfilling without the friends and comments.

Shaped Internet.

We seem to have come to our limit for the month in internet usage.

The children have been watching a lot of you tube videos. We have 20000 mb download each month and usually that is plenty but this month we have used it all too early.

Instead of charging us though, our isp slows the internet connection down to the same speed as dial up.

It is so frustrating waiting for pages to load. I realize now how spoilt we really are with broadband. I am still keeping up with everyones blogs through google reader but I probably won't be doing a lot of commenting over the next couple of days.

Therese.

900 posts.

This is my 900th post. Only 100 posts to go till I have 1000 posts.

Blogging has been a wonderful way for me to meet many other people. Thanks to everyone who has followed along and left comments. I am sure without you all, blogging wouldn't be nearly as fulfilling as it has been.

Fixed followers gadget.

Kate from Momopoly linked to blogger help group and I know what caused the problem with me falling off all the following lists.

All the blogs I am following had been changed to following anonymously.

I have changed them all back so I hope I am back on all your lists.

I am thankful for everyone following along with our families daily doings and enjoy following all the other blogs too.

Melissa Hackney. Gone to be with God.

Tonight I read on Kimberly's blog that Melissa Hackney has died.

Please keep Melissa's family in your prayers as they grieve her death.

It is with a heavy heart I pass this news on, but we must be glad that Melissa is not in any more pain now.

Celebrate with us.

Day three of The novena to St. Therese.

Baby number 8 is due to arrive at the Aussie Coffee Shop in late January/early February 2009.

Steve and I are both really excited about having another one and feel very blessed.

The children are over the moon and we have plenty of suggestions for names.

Prayers for the baby and for me would be very appreciated.

9000 visitor's.

Sometime yesterday I got my 9000 visitor to my site.

I thought we would have a competition again.

Can you guess when the 10000 visitor will come to my blog? I am going to give away two prizes. First the person that can guess the closest date and time. Second if the 10000 visitor comes from your blog, you will win something too.

My sitemeter is at the bottom of my blog. You are welcome to look and see all the stats before making your guess.

Lenten Hiatus.

I have decided that my internet time needs to be cut right back until I have finished our decluttering and cleaning out. I will still check my email so if you want to get in contact with me feel free to email me.

17 Years ago today.

I married my best friend.

It was a very grand day. The weather was perfect and even though we were both very nervous in front of all those people we still said our vows without a hitch.

We were married in St. Patricks Church Adelaide and had a reception at the Colonial.

Happy Aniversary Steve. I hope it is a great day for you.

Some very exciting news.

My friend Christine from More and More Dawson had her 7th child yesterday.

Christine was 12 days past her due date. The most exciting thing about this baby is it is the second son for them. They have 5 girls and now 2 boys.

Their daughter Caity kept everyone up to date with what was happening while Chris was in labour. She posted on their family blog and at the dcf message board in the ladies room. I was sound asleep while it was all happening but got up this morning to the great news.

Congratulations to Chris, Ken and all the family (especially Brian who must be thrilled to have a brother at long last).

Can you guess?

Over in the sidebar you can see my sitemeter icon. At this moment I have 4106 visitor's to my blog.

Can you guess when I will get my 5000 visitor?

This shows a summary of my visitors so all those mathematical minded people work out the average and see if you can guess.
Last time Leah from Lowdenclear won. I will have a prize for the nearest time and date. I don't know what it will be though yet.
ETA I have two books for the prize. The two closest guesses will win a copy of the book Angel in the Water which can be read here.

Day light savings.

Starts tonight here. So all your Aussies, wind your clocks FORWARD one hour before you go to bed tonight.

I hate the first week of DLS but love it once we have adjusted to the time change. I really like going out for a walk with the children after evening jobs.

When do the American's/European people finish Day Light Savings?

Some Changes

I have changed commments on this blog to be under complete moderation. I have had to do this because my friend from Chicago that left an anoymous comment has decided to join blogger so that he can insult me and other Catholic bloggers.

This poster calls himself Marcus. If he comes to your blog and leaves an insulting comment don't hesitate to contact me and I will give you the information to contact his isp.

Marcus if you are reading this just know that you are waisting your time posting here. None of your comments will ever be posted on my blog.

Received in an email.

If you have children or grandchildren, work with children at church, or you have neighborhood children whose parents you know, please take note of the information below and pass it along to others.

Schools are distributing this book to children through the Scholastic Book Club. The name of the book is “Conversations with God.” James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating. Parents, churches and Christian schools need to be aware of it. Please pass this information on to churches, e-mail addressees, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends. Please pay special attention not only to what your kids watch on TV, in movie theaters, on the internet, and the music they listen to, but also be alert regarding the books they read.
Two particular books are, Conversations with God, and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch. They sound harmless enough by their titles alone. The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover or title."
The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "Why am I a #######?" His answer is that she was 'born that way' because of genetics, just as you were born right-handed, or with brown eyes, etc. Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences.
Another girls poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?" His reply is, "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong."
Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged."
Not only are these books the false doctrine of the devil, but in some instances quote (in error) the Word of God. And the list goes on.
These books (and others like it) are being sold to schoolchildren through (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children. Our children are under attack.
So I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums, because our adversary, the Devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.
Pass this on to every Believer you know. God bless! And, if you are in doubt, check out the books yourself.

The attack is on. How many parents have read the title of this book and thought what a great book for my child to read.

This author contradicts himself. Look at this paragraph:

Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged."

Of course there is no such thing as right and wrong but to judge someone is wrong. Now I really see why Louise has a label blithering idiots. There are so many out there.
God bless
Therese

Aussie Coffee Shop Banned.

Fr. Tim has been on a blog banning bonanza. Aussie Coffee Shop is now on the list. This was one of my dreams come true. I always wanted to be on Fr. Tim's list of banned websites.
