Pumping.

We have a start date for Christopher's insulin pump. He will be starting the pump on the 10th of February 2011. He is getting a medtronic pump just like Toms. He kept on insisting that he wanted a blue one too but I think I have talked him into getting another colour. I don't want to be getting pumps mixed up so they need to be different colours.

I thought we would need an inserter for the pump but the diabetes educator has informed me that they have different canula's with automatic inserters so I bought him this teddy to put his pump in each night instead.

We were hoping he would start in the school holidays but it couldn't happen. The timing is right for us though. Joseph will probably be weaned so Christopher and I will stay in Adelaide and Steve will look after everything at home. So looking forward to having some time away with just Christopher.

Therese, I found this prayer, and I will begin saying it for your little boys.

Prayer for those suffering with diabetes:

Oh, my Jesus, you accepted your suffering so that we might have eternal life. Give their hardship meaning and ease their fears as you turn their suffering into a source of joy.

Your servant, St. Josemaria Escriva, was cured after suffering with diabetes for ten years. He used his many obstacles and physical ailments as a passageway to holiness. Through his experiences you taught him that "sorrow is the touchstone of love." Overcome their sorrow with your enduring love and purify their bodies and souls. I ask this through the intercession of Mary, Our Mother and St. Josemaria Escriva. Amen.

Enjoy your time away with Christopher. God bless.

Great news for Christopher!
Different colours is definitely a good idea, too many headaches for you otherwise.

What exciting news! I definitely like the blue pump. I have my first blue one right now. =)

I will be praying that Christopher's start-up with pumping will go safely and smoothly!

God bless you all!

I like the lion lol.
Josh has asked for the pump but the hospt are stalling. It's probably more expensive and at the moment in the UK the "oh we're broke, must save money on the NHS" has diabetics on analog insulin in the cross hairs. It's a bit worrying.
If he does get the pump, I think I'll get him a teddy zip up too...just because he's nearly 22 doesn't mean he can't have cuddley toys, does it??

lol Shell. The lion is definitely good for any age. Even at 44 I still like to cuddle soft toys.

There is a chameleon too. That is what Tom is getting. At the moment his pump lies on his bed next to him. If I ever need to do a correction at night when he is asleep, I feel my way to his pump along the tubing.

As far as the NHS, pumping is the best treatment by far for type 1 diabetes. They need to look at the long term. If they were to put Josh on a pump would save them in the long run since it is more likely he will have less complications from his diabetes with a pump.

Prayer to St. Pauline Visintainer

St. Pauline, you have suffered much in your life blind with Diabetes. In heaven, you can see clearly now. The love of God and the sick, enabled you to endure tragedy; your example will forever be our vision.

St. Pauline, ask God to give me the strength to sustain this illness, and to allow my body to produce energy needed to function. I ask your loving intercession to control my blood sugar and other risk factors, so my body will live and I may live to help others. (Add your own intentions)

St. Pauline, intercede to Our Savior to help the newly diagnosed Diabetics throughout the work so they may have medical and Divine intervention.

Healing Heart of Jesus cleanse us from all sin to be Reborn in Faith, Hope and External Love.

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes
Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Click on the photo of Tom and Christopher to read about why I am against using Embryonic Stem cells for a cure.
