Today I received an email from Annelisa about Kids First Australia.
Kids first Australia a group dedicated to stopping discrimination against stay at home mothers that don't receive as much government assistance as a mother that works.
Double income families have two advantages over single income families in Australia. One is they receive Government payments to help with childcare and secondly, a double income family that has a similar income to a single income family is taxed less on their earnings.
At the moment, Kids First Australia have two petitions that need support.
Go here to read the petitions and sign.

I don't have a problem with those who work getting rewarded for it? I'm not sure I understand what the issue is? How is it unfair that people who work get support to work, in terms of childcare? Don't they need it to work and pay the taxes to provide the services and benefits we all enjoy?
I know when I've done the sums it doesn't make financial sense for me to go back to work. Paying childcare for 2, with DH and I's combined income would mean I was working for very little plus I would loose some of my family payments too and health card.
I was chatting with another mum yesterday at kindy pick up and she was saying it was also the reason she hasn't gone back to work....
Boy, that's lousy! I'll see if I can sign from the states.
