Are you born organised or a SHE?

Last night I was reading Cathy's blog and she had a before and after shot of her clean office. She reminded me of a post I thought about doing.

I am a SHE. A SHE is a sidetrack household executive. If I set about any task, I always get sidetracked.Lots of things sidetrack me from finishing a job (unless I set myself a deadline).

I have been wanting (just a little bit) to get my sewing desk cleaned up. It have been putting off doing sewing until it is clean. Each day, Brigette folds our washing and brings it into our room. She usually puts it on our bed or on my sewing table. If it gets put on our bed, Steve or I move it to the sewing table when it is bed time (and I think, I will put it away tomorrow). Tomorrow never comes in this house though.

This is what my sewing area looks like at the moment:

I need to get it cleaned up so that I can do some sewing. I will post an after photo once it is done. Now that everyone knows, I will be more motivated and try and get it done sooner. If you don't see an after shot on here in the next couple of days, start harassing me. That should get me moving too.

I am one of those to Therese, you are not alone there my friend.

Your life is so busy with your family that it is understandable that things get a little messy. No drama you will get around to it I am sure. My laundry is my messy place, that is where everything gets dumped until I get it sorted.

I can give you a hand if you want.

A good post to get you motivated.

Offering you encouragement and looking forward to the "after!" Cathy

I love your bench set up! Did you buy it like that or have it made? Looks really handy when moving from one machine to another. Can't wait to see the after shot and what you make.

Tracy,

Steve made the table when I took the girls to Adelaide for a weekend. I came home to it all finished and our walk in robe started. I was really surprised how much he got done.

Tania,

Thanks for the offer for the help. You are welcome to call in anytime and help (or even just have a coffee).

Cathy,

Thanks for the encouragement.

I think I should get it done tomorrow.

I am such a SHE. I am constantly reminding my self to stay focused on the task at hand!

I am so one of those...not organized. My goal for today (ha! will only happen if I get off this computer) is to get my craft desk cleared off so that next time I actually have time to do something creative I can do it. You have motivated me to do the picture thing as well. Thanks.

What a lovely big sewing area. Can't wait to see the after pic! Now I know where you make all those incredible creations of yours!

I have a similar problem...goal for today is to get craft corner cleaned up so it's usable again. We will see. Took pictures before I started thanks to your encouragement.

Blessings

I think you can do it! I can't wait to see what you do with it. I'm definitely a distracted wife myself. I'd rather read . . . . I keep things as tidy as possible, but sterile always. Know what I mean? Messes can be picked up, germs have to stay away. Just my own criteria.

Baby in the bath (previous post) is so darling!!!

My solution would be to team up with a friend to help each other once per month. Get together in the morning to organize and straighten and your reward is a beautiful lunch made by the hostess.

Reason number one: things always go better with help. The other reason is that someone else can see an organizing solution for another person way before they can see their own.

I am a SHE. My whole house looks like your sewing table!

Well, just don't forget to take baby steps, Therese.

You are not alone (from a fellow SHE) :)

I am DEFINITELY a SHE. I'm working on that, though; one thing that seems to help me if I want to get something done is to set a timer. I try to guess about how long I need to accomplish something and stick to that. It seems to motivate me to focus on the task at hand. Have you tried consulting the Fly Lady? Check this out:

You can sign up for email updates; this has helped me get more organized. The timer thing was her idea! :)

I'm a SHE as well. I was getting a handle on it again. But, having a 'high need' baby plus all the joys of moving have me covered under again.

Hope you can uncover your sewing desk soon!

Of course, Laura O just reminded me how having a new baby might make things just a little more difficult! :)
