Home made Christmas.

What are some of the things you do for Christmas? I am going to start doing some craft and cooking activities with Tom and Amelia for Christmas soon. These are what we have planned so far:

Cooking:

White Christmas.
Rum balls.
Apricot Balls.
Coconut ice.
Christmas pudding.
Christmas cake.

Craft:

Making Christmas decorations. Paper links are at the top of the list. I think we will also make an advent calender.

I have thought about making a nativity scene but just think it may be too big a project and I haven't been able to find anything online that I feel really confident making.

I will sew a new outfit for the girls and our younger boys. I will probably buy something for our two older boys who don't really appreciate home sewn outfits.

Tom and Amelia have a couple of projects they want to sew. Tom is keen to do a Christmas stocking for the baby even though he won't be here at Christmas. I think it is because he knows how simple it is and I hope he doesn't expect it to be full of gifts.

So what plans do you have?

I tried to make figgy pudding 2 years ago and the result was only mediocre.
Would you mind sharing your Christmas pudding recipe?
I would love to try it.

the only firm plan we have so far is to make a nativity out of felt. I bought this pattern last year, but never made it:

It is delivered by PDF. I have made some felt food from her pattern and it went very well. I like the patterns.

I just started knitting some white and red dishcloths ... I don't know if I'll *make* anything else. I will bake some things, and I hope to be part of a cookie swap, too. It's good to start early, because it'll be here before you know it! I'm already feeling a bit anxious, like I need to get organized, so that our Advent is a blessed one ...

After Thanksgiving Day(U.S.), I usually draw up some recipes for Christmas dinner. Sometimes we travel over Christmas, so we don't do too much at home, but I think this year we are staying put.

We've got too much Christmas stuff, so I tend to not make or bring anything else into the house.

I think this year I will focus on making some special cookies and cakes...something I've not tried. :)

Hi Therese,
My husband made a stable for the nativity scene, and we bought the figurines from the local Christian bookshop.

Blessings,
Jillian

Hi Therese,

Christmas is my favourite time of year,I love to decorate, bake and craft.

I have already started sorting through our dec's (I'm supposed to be cleaning out the garage but I seem to get distracted by shiny baubles and sparkling tinsel...lol)

This year I'm crafting felt trees & gingerbread men.

White Christmas is a favourite in our house too.
Will you be making a Gingerbread house? Christian loves to help decorate our one :)

The children made Gingerbread houses last week at kids club. I would like to try making one. Maybe we will in the two weeks between school finishing and Christmas. At the moment the only cooking I am thinking about is the Christmas pudding and cake. I really like them when they have been kept for a while before Christmas.

Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research.
