What are you doing for lent?

Lent starts next Wednesday.

I have a couple of things in mind that I will give up. I am going to cut back my computer time. I am going to pray the rosary more. I really need to do this each day. I also want to spend more time with our children doing fun activities.

Dyphna posted a link to the home calender guide from Operation Rice Bowl at World of Mothers blog. I will be praying the prayers each day with my children and teach them about some traditional meals from around the world.

What are your plans for Lent?

Good morning, Therese. I have been thinking about Lent, too. I need to be less political....er possibly for the next 40 days. Off the computer more and participate in Lenten prayer study group at the parish we attend.

Hugs!

I'm thinking along the same lines...I want to commit to DOING worthwhile things rather than giving something up. Doing is harder, and I believe, more beneficial. Still deciding what specifically I will do.

Therese,

We've been chatting as a family about Lent and what we can both give up and add to our lives during this wonderful time for reflection. I think I'm going to do a spending fast again. Buying things we don't truly need has a way of creeping into our lives. Instead, I can use some of the 'unspent' money to help others who are not as fortunate as us.

Our parish is hosting an introduction to Lectio Divina and I'm on the working committee representing the Music Ministry. I'll be spending time preparing for my part in the presentation as well as working at introducing it to the cantors. Actually *practicing* it on a regular basis is another goal of mine this Lent.

Not sure what the boys will decide, although we might do Lectio Divina as a family as well.

Otherwise, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed at times as it's a busy season for music ministry and a permanent replacement probably won't happen until Easter or later. I'm glad to serve as interim director, but can see how it would be a strain for the long term.

I will only tell you a couple of mine.

One I always do, is give up all types of chocolate.
That is a hard one for me...choc biscuits, drinks, bars, blocks, the lot!
And to kneel every night when we pray the rosary.

Thank you Aussie Therese for your prayers 4 my baby. I think my real due date is Wed, but I think it will come sooner than that:)

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes
Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Click on the photo of Tom and Christopher to read about why I am against using Embryonic Stem cells for a cure.
