Minnesota Mom: When Sarah Laughed
Recently I posted about a yahoo group that was starting for parents of Type one diabetic children. Our group was started by Michele Quigley
Michele has had two children diagnosed with type one diabetes in the last 6 months. At the moment she is waiting for insurance to come through and until it does they need to pay for the insulin themselves. At a cost of $600.00 per month per child they are struggling to meet basic medical care for their two insulin dependent children.
There is hope that they can do it. The kind people at Hillside Education are donating all their profit to this family from now until Christmas.
If you could please consider doing some shopping from Hillside Education and help this family I am sure they will be most grateful for all your help. There is also an option there to make a donation without buying something.
Here is a link to Hillside Education
Also join me in prayer for them all. I found the first two years of Tom's diagnosis the hardest and the learning curve was very steep. I cannot even imagine trying to cope with two diagnosis.
Thanks to Margaret from Minnesota Mom for posting this information.
Thanks
Therese

I am praying and will do a little shopping as well. Thanks for brining this to my attention. As a registered nurse, I know this is a hard thing for families. God bless you!
Blessed be God Forever!
Love and prayers,
Kimberly
How are your parents??--especially your dad and how is your mom holding up?
Thanks Kimberly.
My dad has improved a lot. He is off palliative care and eating well again. My mother is happy he has turned around.
Today is their 48th wedding anniversary so we are glad Dad lived to this day.

Hi Therese
Makes me very glad that here in Australia we at least have Medicare and you can get some basics of health care covered. Aren't insulin pumps covered under Medicare?
My husband was very sick earlier in the year and some of his costs were covered by Medicare and our private health fund covered the rest
Karnak
Karnak,
Insulin pumps as far as I know are only available to people with private health insurance here at this stage. When Tom went on the waiting list they made sure we had private health insurance and that they covered the pump. I am hoping that one day it will be the way they start treatment for all diabetic children. I think they are a much better way to treat diabetes especially children that are diagnosed at a young age.
