Back from Adelaide.

I took Tom to Adelaide yesterday and we caught up with the Endocrinologist and Diabetes Educator.

We are changing the site that the pump goes into and getting a backpack for him to put his pump on his back. This way he will not touch his tube or site so hopefully he won't have such a problem with insulin getting through and the site will last for three days.

I am going to keep in close contact via phone and email with both the Endo and DE so hopefully we will get a good picture soon of the basal rate that Tom needs.

Here is a picture of the pouch we are hoping to get for Tom to put the pump on his back.

Thanks so much to everyone that has been praying for us. We will soldier on.

did you know, and you likely do, that the pump can be attached to his skin on his tummy? they insert a needle directly into the skin and the whole little unit is attacked at the waist, and not even noticeable under the shirt. just wondering if you knew?

We have it on his tummy at the moment Marilena. It is causing problems though because he keeps on fiddling with the tube. When he fiddles with it it becomes blocked and the insulin doesn't get through. If we put it on his back hopefully he will not be able to touch it.

Looks like a neat solution to the problem. What's it like during play?
More prayers-
God bless

If he is playing sports we take it off. If games are getting to rough we take it of then too.

Putting the pump on Tom's back sounds like a wise decision. I pray everything will work out as you hope.

We'll look forward to updates on the ongoing saga. Carry on, dear Soldier of the Cross.

I haven't been able to keep up with people's blogs very well. Will pray for Tom and you and Steve, that the pump works well.

God bless,
Louise

Please pray for a cure for Type One Diabetes
Our sons Tom and Christopher and our daughter Amelia are type one diabetics. We pray everyday for a cure. We do not want one by illicit means though so don't support any organisation that contributes to Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Click on the photo of Tom and Christopher to read about why I am against using Embryonic Stem cells for a cure.
