Which colour do you like?

I have put a poll in the sidebar and want your opinion of what colour roof you think we should have. If you click on the picture and make it bigger you should be able to see all the colours.

If you think we should have something completely different let me know in the comment box too.

Thanks
Therese

The Headland (orange) probably looks the best, as it blends in with the house the best.
However, the orange makes the house look old-style.
So is it possible to paint the orange bricks/wood (?) on the front of the house?
If so, I'd go maybe a dark grey, or grey/blue roof and paint the orange bricks (or whatever they are at the front of the house) to match.
It would make the home look younger and more modern.
The Ocean blue looked okay.
But that's only my opinion:)

Thanks for your opinion Gina.

The front bricks have already been painted. The colour is closer to a terracotta colour. When we decided to paint the house we looked around at other houses and looked for a combination we liked. We both liked the terracotta and white on the front with a charcoal black roof. We are worried now though that the roof will make the house too hot. Our temps here in Summer get up over 40 c (100 f) often so we don't want to get a roof that is too hot.

This post shows the colour of the front bricks a bit better and you can click on the photo to enlarge it. AT the moment the roof is similar to the traditional colour in the poll.

Okay, well I think maybe do the terracotta roof, as it matches & it might keep the house cooler.
I just asked my husband (without saying anything) and he chose the terracotta roof too.
Good luck with choosing:)

Geesh. I liked the windspray. Go, figure. Asking us is like asking us about our preference for a certain brand of coffee. Good luck with this!

I was going to ask about a charcoal black roof until I read your comment! I think that would look the best. We have that color on our roof, and part of our roof is uninsulated (The ceiling is vaulted and the roof is the ceiling) and those rooms DO get much warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter. We don't have a problem in the rest of the house.)

Other than that, my next favorite is the windspray -- I like the dark of the ocean blue, but I'm not sure of the color combination. I'm probably not much help! :) Good luck!

I can't say which I like better, the orange or the ocean blue.. those two are my favorites.

i said headland because it matches the trim on your house. blue does not go good with red of that color.
however, the headland does.

I like the blue but I think you need to find something at ground level to tie it all together. Perhaps some large pots the same color as the roof. That would give you three colors - main, trim, and accent.

For instance - our house is yellow, the trim is white, and the roof and accents (in this case shutters and front and back deck) are light grey.

Hi. This is such a sweet blog! Hi. My name is Mary. I live in California but I was raised in Melbourne. Your blog reminds me of my childhood home. My dad was an opal dealer and we spent some time traveling too. We are Catholic and we also homeschooled our four kids. Anyway, come by my blog sometime. God bless.

Therese....I picked Oceanblue. You've got a big decision to make. I think the blue is a good contrast with your house color.
Speaking of which....what a cute house!

Hi Therese,

This is my selection but I am by no means an expert in these matters.

I chose the traditional, followed closely by the blue or green. I tend to like green because we don't see that much of it around here, greenery, I mean. I am thinking that Orange might not show the dirt as much?

Good luck with your selection, I think the house will look great no matter what colour you choose.

I like headland as well. It blends well with your paint in front. I didn't like the way the others contrasted.

I like the terracotta color the best.

I like the blue. It's a nice contrast and it's more timeless. The green will be dated before long and if you go too dark or too light, you'll hate it in a few years.
