I thought when I read it, that is what I want with my blog. I want a blog that will update itself. I guess that isn't going to happen. It is like wanting to win the lottery without buying a ticket. or these top 4 wishes.

One Homeschool Book You've Enjoyed.  


My favourite would have to be Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum.  This book would have to be the one that helped me the most when I first started home school. I would say this is the book that gave me the confidence that I could educate my children myself. 


One Resource You Wouldn't Be Without. 


I think the internet would have to be the one. I keep in touch with other home school families and have loads of bookmarks with resources.

Not really sure if I can think of one. I cannot think of anything we have bought and not used. There have been programs that I have bought and thought I won't get this again simply because the program hasn't been suited to my children's way of learning.

I loved the Tutor System. I will be using it again next year for Christopher I think.

The Tutor System and The Phonetic Zoo. The Phonetic Zoo is a spelling program. Right from the start of home schooling, I have really struggled with how to teach the children how to spell. In May this year, I did a search for something new and came across The Phonetic Zoo. I bought it and we started it straight away. It is by far the best spelling program we have had. Tom and Amelia both said they hated this program but the results were fantastic. They really learnt words and remembered them.

I don't think there is any resource that I have wanted and haven't been able to find. I do wish though there were more home school families that lived close by. I really like the idea of doing activities with other home school families.

A while ago, Therese from The musings of a mom and Epsilon from All the little epsilons tagged me for a meme.

This year, I haven't done many of the meme's or passed on many awards that others have given me simply because I am not blogging nearly as much and I have forgotten to post them. I wanted to post this first and apologise. I really hope that no one has been offended at my lack of passing on or posting of memes. I really do enjoy doing them most of the time.

This is such a great meme. It is always great to affirm and tell our priests that we appreciate what they do and all the ways they help us.

I am going to talk about our parish priest Fr. Paul Burke. He has been our parish priest for 3 years now.

Fr. Paul is always friendly and greets everyone as they come in our church. He loves the children and all our children love interacting with him. This past weekend, he gave a great sermon on giving and generosity. He said that rarely is there a perfect time to be generous but we should still try and give even if it is only small.

Thanks Fr. Paul for being our priest.

The Alpha Meme

My roommate and I once: Never had a room mate but my sister and I once went into hospital together to have our tonsils out and we ran a muck. I think the nurses were happy to see the back of us.


Never in my life have I: been outside Australia.

High school was: something I had to do but didn't really enjoy.

When I’m nervous: I play with my lips.

My hair: brown but turning grey.

When I was 5: I started school. The teacher asked me my name and I didn't want to tell her because I thought it was a stupid name. My mother said to her, she isn't usually so shy.

When I turn my head left: it hurts my shoulder a bit.

I should be: supervising the children doing their after tea jobs.

By this time next year: I will be holding our baby and he/she will be 6 months old.

I have a hard time understanding: people that are pro abortion.

The A meme.

Laura has the fancy P assignment and I asked her to give me a letter. She gave me A. I have to come up with 10 things I like that start with A.

1. Avocados are one of my favourite things to eat.

This time, 16 years ago, Daniel was about a hour and a half old. My first born was born on the 1st of the 1st.

I just got an email from Tom's endo. His hba1c is down to 7.2%. His last one was 10.3% so it is much better. To put it in perspective, a non diabetic person has a hba1c of 5%

Tom is now home. Ketone's are now negative and he seems much better.

1. I am 42 years old.

2. I love sleeping in but always have a more organised day if I get up early.

3. I am trying to get to bed by 9.30 and up at 5.30 these days.

4. I love to drink Coke Zero.

5. My favourite main meal to cook is spaghetti.

6. About a month ago, my mil gave me a pack of Nescafe Hazelnut Latte's. I am totally hooked since.

7. My two favourite flavours are Irish Cream and Hazelnut.

8. I am realizing what a God send Tom's insulin pump is over the last couple of days. He is looking forward to getting a new one too. At least I know it is on the way and will be here tomorrow.

9. My favourite colour is red.

10. I prefer to wear dresses to skirts and jeans but don't own many dresses. I am going to make a couple of simple ones these holidays.

11. We are renovating our home and our next project is the children's bathroom and a family room.

12. I meet Steve at a 21st birthday party.

13. I am quite obsessive with running our budget. I don't like it one bit if I cannot balance our accounts perfectly. I have to find the transaction I have missed.

14. I am the treasurer for our local scouts group.

15. I have one brother and three sisters.

16. One of my sisters died when I was 11 months old.

17. I hate confrontation and will not confront people unless I have too.

18. I have been playing My Farm on facebook and think this is the best game they have there.

19. Steve and I will celebrate 18 years of marriage on January 26th.

20. The months of the years we have birthday celebrations in our immediate family are January, February, March, May and October.

21. I need to exercise more.

22. My hair is turning gray.

23. I hate being late for anything.

24. I want to go sky diving one day.

25. If we go out to eat, I will order seafood. I love to eat prawns most of all.

1. A clean organised house.
2. Relaxed weekends with families sitting around a lot.
3. Finishing sewing an outfit for our children and seeing their faces light up.
4. meeting other mum bloggers and getting to know them.
5. Writing on my blog and looking back through it and remembering good memories.

So for this meme, I sent Sam into our room (that is where I had the closest book and choose one that was on my bedside table.

I chose the book Audrey.

Aline was always getting him off the hook and making excuses for him when something went wrong.
By contrast, Audrey was strong, serious, ordered, highly reflective and a master organizer. She would get annoyed with her brother because she couldn't understand his childish anarchy.
