Master chef Australia.

Since the biggest looser has finished we have been watching a new series called Masterchef Australia.

I enjoy watching it and getting ideas for new recipes. If we miss any of the programs, you can watch them on the official master chef site.

Each week there is a cook off that the contestants have to work with 2 main ingredients and make a dish and then the best recipe is chosen.

A couple of weeks ago, Chris made steak tartare. When he walked up to the judges with it, I thought yuk, raw steak. It was chosen by the judges as the winning dish. Here is the video of Chris preparing it:

So any of my readers going to try making steak tartare? I personally couldn't imagine putting raw meat in my mouth.

lol yes. I have heard that eating raw is really good for if you are trying to loose weight.

I used to eat raw beef when I was younger, but then all of the e. coli warnings put an end to that...Hope that doesn't gross people out, but Italians do it a lot, and that was the culture I grew up in...I also used to order burgers and steaks rare/medium rare, and Andy only orders medium well-It took some adjustment!

No way!!!! I had a roommate who ate raw hamburger and it was sooo disgusting. I thought it was dangerous to eat beef raw, isn't it?

Therese I use to like medium rare steaks too. Steve really likes his meat well done.

Vicki,

I thought the same thing. I cannot think but I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't true about red meat and that it was just a common believed myth.

Hi Therese,
I like my meat half-way between charcoal and cremated. I even sent a steak back with a band-aid on it - the chef had no sense of humour, but I can't stand cutting the steak when it both moos, bleeds and tries to jump off my plate. :P

My husband cooks my steak to perfection.

Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Jillian

I love steak tartare!!

Funny story. My hubby was not very "worldly" when we were dating. At a very posh restaurant I ordered steak tartare and he ordered the same thing and asked for it to be cooked "medium". The waiter just stood there and stared at him at a complete loss for words.

In my usual lady-like way with compassion as my number one virtue , I started laughing so hard I almost wet my pants.

Oh well, he's hung around for 33 years enduring abuse such as that...

Oh yes - he loves steak tartare, too

I've only started watching this show recently thanks to my son and I'm enjoying it. Don't know if I could swallow this recipe though ... I need my meat well cooked.

Tonight they showed some absolutely yummy desserts.
