Tonight I spoke with Tom's endocrinologist and the blood test results for Christopher are positive.
At the moment he still produces some insulin. Probably in the next couple of years he will stop all production though.
The positives are that we know it is coming and his sugars will be relatively easier to manage while he is still producing his own insulin. He also won't get ketoacidosis since we are aware and watching his blood sugar level.
We will be doing bsl in the morning and at night for the moment. He won't need any insulin shots yet.
Please pray for Christopher. He was very unhappy tonight when we had to check his sugar level.
Therese.

Hi Therese - I just wanted to let you know Christopher and all the family will be in my prayers. Its never nice having to have loads of tests - especially for one so young. I have autoimmune disease but it effects my thryroid so I know that is can be a real hassle. Hope he starts to feel a bit better about things. God Bless!

Therese, thinking and praying for you and your family tonight.
God bless,
Tania
Oh Therese...I was so hoping you wouldn't get that answer!
On the upside...you know what you're doing and you have the upper hand. Tom and Christopher are in my prayers.
Therese,
I'm sure that wasn't the news you wanted to hear... I'm sorry for that. How old is Christopher?
He is fortunate to have parents who know this road so well and know exactly how to care for him. Though you'd much rather he just be healthy and not need your expertise!
Bless you all,
Jennifer
Thanks everyone for your prayers. I think I am still in shock about this news. Jennifer, Christopher turned 4 in February.
We are praying for you!
I am so sorry to hear that, Therese! I hope all goes well for both of them!
Oh Therese, I'm sorry. You're all in my prayers.
Prayers for Christopher. My daughter Olivia turns four in September.
What are the signs of diabetes? Poor little guy!!
Oh gosh, i can imagine that Christopher wouldn't be very happy about this and it must have been quite a shock for you. The good thing is that you already have experience of this and know what to look for. I'm sure it will get easier for Christopher as time goes on. At just 4 years old though it must be difficult for him to get his head around it. Bless him.
I will certainly pray for your family, Therese.
So sorry to hear that Christopher's tests were not as hoped. You know that God has a reason for everything. But it is very hard when it comes to the little ones, isn't it? You are all in my prayers, esp little Christopher.
Be blessed,
Abbey
Coleen,
The signs for diabetes are:
Very thirsty,
urinating a lot more.
breathing fast
vomiting,
When a child gets type one, they usually go into ketoacidosis. This is where there is so many ketones in the blood that their blood becomes acidic. Because we know this is coming it is less likely that Christopher will get it.
The reason we had the blood tests done was because one morning Tom checked Christopher's bsl and it was very high. I think it is a miracle that we found out. I don't usually check the other children's bsl but Christopher asked Tom if he could and I said it was okay.
You and your family are in our prayers! Thanks for sharing!
Therese,
Christopher will be in my prayers. What a wonderful thing that Tom checked his sugars and you could find out something was up before it got so bad Christopher ended up in the hospital.
Our two youngest are in diabetes research studies here that will monitor them until they are 10 (for John Paul) and 15 (for Gianna.) This is my way to keep an eye on them and to hopefully help researchers figure out what causes Type 1.
God bless you and your family!
Regan
Therese, I am sorry to hear that the test results weren't what you hoped they would be. I will keep him (and all of you!) in my prayers. God bless.
Oh, I am so sorry... those weren't the results we were hoping for. :(
Therese
I am very sorry to read this news about Christopher.
I will keep him in my prayers.

Many prayers!
Christopher will be in my prayers Therese. He sounds like a tough little guy though.
I'm sorry this is the news. I pray he will be able to produce his own insulin for as long as possible.
More prayers.
God bless
Poor little guy! ;-(
Hi Therese,
He's so little to have diabetes. I'll be praying for him.
Prayers for Christopher and for all of you, Therese.
